An event to promote available SBAT employment opportunities for students in Melbourne's Inner North

Overview

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships Towards a Pathway (SBATs on Tap) is an event providing students interested in SBAT employment with the opportunity to talk directly with leading organisation with current vacancies available.

The targeted student cohort are VCAL students (but not limited to) who are looking to use the SBAT employment pathway to enhance their employment opportunities.

This networking opportunity also allows students to directly apply for a SBAT position or commit to undertake an industry work placement as a taster to ascertain if they would like to consider an SBAT employment opportunity.

The event has run for 3 consecutive years, with a number of students attending this years February event.

The event has proved to be a resounding success in the past with many organisations encountering students considering or committing to a SBAT during the event. The event attracts a range of key local business employers, School Coordinators (VCAL and Careers) students and parents in attendance.

Eligibility & Application

32 schools in the Inner Northern region.

The targeted student cohort are VCAL students (but not limited to) who are looking to use the SBAT employment pathway to enhance their employment opportunities.

The 2015 SBAT event has not yet been confirmed.

Northern SBAT Taskforce

The aim of the Northern SBAT Taskforce is to develop practical strategies to increase the uptake of SBATs amongst schools as well as employers in the northern region. The overall vision is to grow the opportunities and for SBATs to become a mainstream option available in more schools.
