Industry Speaker Bank
inspire, contribute, nurture, encourage
Employers are invited to volunteer to visit schools and speak about their industry and their personal employment journey.
The Industry Speaker Bank aims to inspire students by giving them access to leaders in business and industry who visit schools providing engaging, thought provoking and inspiring employment and business or industry-related presentations to students.
2016 UK research into careers education has revealed there are significant links between a person’s wage and their exposure to school-mediated employer engagement activities such as access to employer presentations. With that in mind, it’s clear that registering with the Industry Speaker Bank is a rewarding experience in more ways than one.
How it works
Organising a visit from a member of the Industry Speaker Bank is easy. There’s a single point of contact. INLLEN, on behalf of INYET, will facilitate the most appropriate speaker for your cohort of young people and will connect schools to speakers. Here’s what’s involved.
Information for schools…
- Check the list of speakers in this document to see who might be the most relevant for your school group.
- Contact INLLEN with your preferred day and time for a speaker to attend, as well as your preferred speaker name. Please note, the more notice you can give our speakers the more likely you are that they can attend. We will contact the speaker to determine their availability and arrange for them to get in touch with you.
- Prepare your students for the presentation by tasking them to conduct research on the topic/s and to prepare relevant questions to ask the speaker.
- Conduct follow up with the students and speaker after the presentation.
Information for speakers…
If you’re a business or industry leader and you’d like to share your stories by visiting schools to talk to student groups contact us at INLLEN.
Speakers provide a bio, list of preferred availability and topics and try to make themselves available during the school year to present and inspire young people and to share their stories.
