In 2010, through a collaborative effort, the From My School to Our School initiative was launched with the aim of strengthening learning relationships between schools, families and communities.
To implement this agenda INLLEN brought together a Steering Committee made up of representatives from schools, community services, universities and peak bodies. The Steering Committee embarked on an action research project that produced a report comprising of:
- A literature review on the topic of parental engagement
- An environmental and resource scan of our region
- Consultations with local schools
- Recommendations for action in 2012-2013

Following recommendations made at the conclusion of the 2011 phase of the project, in 2012-2014 INLLEN’s focus has been to continue to build the capacity of schools and professionals to meaningfully engage parents in their children’s education.
